AminCat DMEA catalyst (N,N-Dimethylethanolamine) contains both a tertiary amine group and a hydroxyl group, and therefore it undergoes typical reactions of both amines and alcohols. It strongly catalyses the water-isocyanate reaction in the production of polyurethane foam. Its hydroxyl group can react with the isocyanate, thereby chemically bonding the AminCat DMEA catalyst molecule to the polyurethane polymer. As a result, residual amine odour in the finished foam product is minimized.
