Description and features
Catonium ETPI (Ethyltriphenylphosphonium Iodide) is a white to off-white crystalline powder with the chemical formula C20H20P. Mainly used for advancing and curing phenolic-based epoxy resins and thermosetting powder coatings, ETPI serves as a quaternary phosphonium salt. It also acts as a Wittig reagent in organic synthesis and as a phase transfer catalyst in producing fluoroelastomers. Highly soluble in water and polarizable solvents, Ethyltriphenylphosphonium Iodide is known as ETPI, ETPPI, and TPEP-I.
Compared to amines, imidazoles, and quaternary ammonium salts, CatOnium ETPI offers much better latency and thermal stability. It provides low odor, minimal color formation, and controlled reactivity. Additionally, it decreases or eliminates side reactions and creates longer, straighter chain epoxy molecules with a sharp molecular weight distribution.
