Description and features
Viacat 4101 (Butyltin chloride dihydroxide) is one of several organotin compounds that serve as esterification catalysts in the temperature range of 200–230°C. It is a non-acidic white solid with the chemical formula C₄H₁₁ClO₂Sn. When heated with alcohols or carboxylic acids, it dissolves and forms an active species that is soluble in ester systems and remains in the final ester product.
We recommend Viacat 4101 for preparing esters such as trioctyltrimellitate, as well as unsaturated and saturated polyesters. Additionally, it is used in the production of powder coating resins.
Butyltin chloride dihydroxide is also known as butylchlorodihydroxytin and butyl(chloro)stannanediol.
