SilQon Memo (3-trimethoxysilylpropyl methacrylate) is a colorless, clear liquid with the chemical formula C10H20O5Si. Manufacturers primarily use it as an adhesion promoter at (in)organic interfaces; moreover, it functions as a surface modifier and a crosslinker for polymers. Specifically, it acts as a coupling agent to enhance the physical and electrical properties of glass-reinforced and mineral-filled thermosetting resins when exposed to heat and/or moisture.
Additionally, it serves as a blend additive in resin systems that cure via a free radical mechanism, such as polyester and acrylic, and in filled or reinforced thermoplastic polymers, including polyolefins and polyurethanes. Furthermore, it enables the functionalization of resins through radical-initiated processes like copolymerization or grafting, while also modifying surfaces.
In addition, 3-trimethoxysilylpropyl methacrylate is known as Triethoxyoctylsilane and N-Octyltriethoxysilane.

Application
SilQon Memo serves as a glass fiber size for fillers in unsaturated polyester resins and polyolefins. Furthermore, it acts as a finish for glass fabrics in unsaturated polyester applications. Additionally, it functions as a surface modifier for pigments and fillers in thermosets, thermoplastics, and elastomers. Moreover, it is used as an additive for filled, peroxide-cross-linked elastomers and for casting resins like unsaturated polyester and MMA.
