Description and features

Iniper 64 (Azobisisobutyronitrile or AIBN) is a white solid with the chemical formula C8H12N4. Manufacturers primarily use Iniper 64 as an initiator for bulk, solution, suspension, and emulsion polymerization of a wide variety of monomers. Consequently, the polymers produced through this process find applications in fibers, sheets, coating resins, flocculants, and more.

Additionally, the free cyano-isopropyl radicals formed upon the thermal decomposition of Iniper 64 initiate the polymerization of the monomers. Furthermore, Iniper 64 does not produce oxygenated residues, as is the case with peroxides, and it does not cause oxidative degradation of pigmented or dyed polymer compositions, such as paints, coatings, fibers, and sheets.
