Acrylic Resins are plastics which can be derived from acrylic acid and methacrylic acid. They have excellent durability and weather resistance properties, hence they are widely used for architectural coatings, automotive coatings and plastic coatings. Examples of acrylic resins are:
- Polymethylacrylate (PMA) which is used in lacquers, leather finishes, textile finishes and adhesives
- Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) also known as acrylic glass and is used for aquariums, canopies, caravan windows, electronic display panels, furniture, medical cabinets etc.
